Alexander Technique - Lessons

Learning the Alexander Technique can be compared to learning a musical instrument or a new language.  It takes practice and repetition to become fluent or proficient - for although everyone has both a mind and a body, it doesn't arrive with an instruction manual!  Sadly, ordinary everyday living, not to mention accidents or the ageing process itself, tend to bring about wear and tear which we either don't notice until something gives way and hurts, or else we regard it as inevitable.

But it doesn't have to be like that.  Anyone with an open mind and a preparedness to look at things in a different way can learn to update the way they go about their daily activities and improve their mind and body co-ordination.  Alexander Technique lessons are generally given on a one-to-one basis.   It is a gentle Hands On technique and with the exception of your shoes you remain fully clothed throughout.  As you progress, your teacher may give you things to think about at home - these will not be exercises in the usual sense.

The first  (Introductory) lesson - lasts for one hour and costs £45.  Subsequent lessons are of 35-40 minutes and cost £38 - there is a price reduction per lesson if a course of lessons is booked. The guidelines of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) suggest that 25 lessons give a person a good basis in the Alexander Technique.
